(The "official" CDBaby description)

This is the long awaited, first release album from Curt Granger.

Take equal parts melody from Tom Petty, The Beatles, 3rd Eye Blind, and mix in the guitar stylings of greats like Eddie Van Halen, Eric Clapton, and Steve Vai, and you might come close to describing Curt's music. A musician from the American south, Curt Granger cut his teeth on the classic bands of the 70's and 80's such as Boston, KISS, Aerosmith, Thin Lizzy, Van Halen, Journey, and King's X.

Curt Granger has been a major player in the local Birmingham Alabama music scene for over 20 years. He began his professional music career in 1986, as a founding member and guitarist of the popular circuit band Pyrate. With this rowdy gang he logged thousands and thousands of miles on the road, performing over 600 shows all across the southeast. After taking a short hiatus as an active musician, Curt formed the alternative rock band Scream Sophie. It was with Scream Sophie that he released two very well received CDs - "Offerings" in 2000, and "Secrets In A Jar" in 2003, and took the band on the road to perform over 100 shows. In 2004 he worked a brief stint with the rock band Empty Fall, playing bass, writing, and producing. October 2004 found Curt forming the band Traumatide, with many subsequent shows and releasing the full-length CD "This Thing Called Life. In 2007, Curt joined forces with some of his fellow golfing pals to form his current band Citizen Jayne, playing lead guitar, contributing backing vocals, and singing lead on a few choices numbers, as well as handling the day-to-day business activities.

Regarding the new album, Curt says, "This is something I've always longed to do, ever since I recorded my first overdub on an old Fostex 4-track. Not only the 'total creative control' aspect appealed to me, but the opportunity to wear multiple 'hats' and think outside the norm of how a guitar player usually thinks. I'm very fortunate that I could work on this album at home during breaks and downtown from my other projects. I'm stoked, to say the least."

For more info, you can visit Curt at CurtGranger.com, or on MySpace at www.myspace.com/curtgranger

I am the proud owner of a Nikon D80. Awesome camera. I've already posted a few shots taken with it. Many more to come I hope.

I've been so incredibly busy, but enjoying it all. I've done 3 paid photo shoots, a website, and have a few clients lined up waiting for me to begin work on their projects. I have a few new web hosting clients as well (thanks Justin!).

My band Citizen Jayne [link] is incredible. I'm having a blast. My bandmates John, Frank, and Ed are 3 of the coolest cats around, and by far the best musicians I've played with in a long time. Every show is a challenge and a lot of fun. We've got a full schedule throughout the year, and I'm sure we'll continue booking more.

I'm at the beach! It's my last day in Orange Beach Alabama, and it's been a nice break. About to go to the beach again in a little while, then head home. I'll post a few photos soon.

To everyone who's fav'd or commented on my work - again, THANKS VERY MUCH! Due to my schedule, I can't personally thank each and every one of you, although I do try to reply to the comments. I'm also way behind on viewing everyone's latest work, and I know I'm missing a lot of really beautiful art, but there are only so many hours in the day.

Keep creating!

I'm in a new band! Actually, we've been together for about 2 months, but I haven't posted in so long... the band is called Citizen Jayne. Our first show is Saturday, March 31. We're expecting a huge showing.

You can hear us on MySpace. Only a few cover tunes (recorded in my studio) for the time being until we can pull ourselves away from the golf course and write/record some original material.

I've been jamming once a month with a great group of local musicians at an event called "The Vulgar Bulge," at a local venue, the Iron Horse Cafe. A friend took photos and you can check 'em out (in the gallery) on the local music ezine I run, The Birmingham Buzz.

I've hardly touched a camera lately, except to take a few new shots of our weenie dog pups Junuh and Sparky. Now that spring has arrived, I certainly have an excuse. I was hired to shoot a friend's wedding in May, so I guess I need to get used to holding a camera again.

I've been very bizznay with website work the last few weeks. (I got that word from my daughter Stacey, who is growing up fast, for shinizzle)

I play golf every week. It's spring now, and the grass is coming back. My 5 iron earned the title "Magic 5 Iron" after my last round. I hit some amazing shots with it. I reached a par 5 in two by hitting driver, 5 iron. 2 putted for birdie.

I'm going to finish my solo CD this year. I am planning on knocking out the rest of it during a week-long vacation in April.... really. I am the Tom Scholz of Alabama. ;)

Wow, another whole year has passed. What an adventure it was this year. Lots of ups and downs in my personal life, which I like to keep as private as I can. My beautiful daughter Stacey just turned 13, and is now 5'8". She's picked up the bass and guitar (I gave her a couple of "hand-me-down" instruments) and has even sat in with my band doing 'Brain Stew' by Green Day. THAT was awesome. I've showed her a few basics, and have her enrolled in a proper guitar class starting next week. I'm sure she'll be recording before I know it, and who knows... maybe even performing with me.

I've worked on my own original music as time has allowed. I'm one song away from finishing my very first completely solo CD. I've started on the vocal track and hope to finish it up in the next few weeks.

Seeing my photography on display at the BT/Thomas Dolby show in Birmingham a few weeks ago was an amazing experience. Sherry and I enjoyed it a lot. I think DA's sponsorship of the tour is an incredible thing. They are taking DA outside of the internet realm into the real world. Here's to their continued success!

My golf game certainly improved this year! I found a very cool group of guys I've regularly been playing with, all musicians. It's a great stress-reliever. I bought a custom set of TaylorMade irons which has really helped, and some instructional DVDs. I have to mention the Calloway Big Bertha 454 driver that my friend Damon Johnson (Brother Cane, Slave to the System, Alice Cooper) gave me as a gift. I've smacked some incredible drives with it (one at 316 yards that I measured, and another one that carried a dogleg left to the side of a lateral water hazard - had to be every bit of 320). I've also put in a lot of hours on the driving range and playing as much as I can squeeze into my schedule. I'm really looking forward to spring in 2007 and playing in warmer weather! Sherry picked up golf too! She took a beginner's class this fall and is doing well. I got her a new set of clubs for Christmas that she really likes, and should help her improve a lot.

The one thing I am most happy about is the reconnection to my faith and relationship with Jesus. I have found so much peace of mind and comfort in strengthening my faith. I've been able to successfully deal with a lot of old issues and find the place where I am comfortable and happy. It hasn't been easy, but I'm very thankful for it. We've been fairly regular at our church, and thanks to my good friend Billy Wilkes (John Waite's drummer), found an awesome Bible study group we attend every Thursday night. It's a wonderful experience, and different from anything I've ever encountered. It's completely laid back, and everyone is so at ease. Our leader Joel is a very passionate and knowledgable guy - simple inspiring. I'm incredibly thankful for him, and Allen & Julie Park, who host the study in their home.

In the world of web design, I had a busy year, creating the Slave to the System website, assisting in revamping my local music community website, BhamBuzz.com, and keeping the Traumatide and The Welfare sites up-to-date. My web hosting business has grown, which has been a big blessing that I'm thankful for.

Finally, here in the last couple of months I've found just a little time to pursue my photography more. I am hoping to find more time to get out and shoot, but at least I've been able to get back to some of my existing photos and present them here on DA. I've still got 1000s of photos that I've never gotten around to submitting. So you can be sure there's more to come.

(from CurtGranger.com)

Happy holidays guys! I hope everyone is fantastic and enjoying the season.

My band Traumatide has a few more shows this year. Check my shows page to see where we're playing next, or the TT websites of course.

With Christmas around the corner, you could always give someone the gift of music. All my CDs are available from CDBaby.com, including the 2 Scream Sophie CDs, as well as the Traumatide CD.

I've recorded a new instrumental track titled 'Shadows of Grace' for my upcoming CD (still untitled). I have to admit I've put the project on the 'back burner' temporarily - one more track and artwork though, and it's done. Sorry for the wait.

The big news (for me anyway) is how much my golf game has improved this year. I've shot several of my best rounds, and my control is becoming a lot more consistent. A big shout out to a few of my fellow ball-strikers: Billy, Damon, John, Frank, Daniel, Roger, Allen, and Andreas.

Finally, many thanks to my great friend Barbi [ =O-range ] for helping me with the CSS for customizing my journal. She's an awesome photographer, so be sure to check out her gallery!
